A guide to the IELTS modules

IELTS Writing test is done inmediately after the IELTS Reading test.

Academic Writing (60 minutes). There is no choice of task, either in Part 1 or 2, so you must be prepared to write about any topic. However, the topics in the exam are of general interest and you do not need to be an expert to write about them.



Task Time Format
120 minutes150-word report, describing or explaining a table or diagram
240 minutes250-word essay, responding to written opinion/problem
Task types
Task 1.
presenting information based on:
a. data, e.g. bar charts, line graph, table.
b. a process/procedure in various stages.
c. an object, event or series of events.

Task 2
presenting and/or discussing:
a. your own opinions.
b. solutions to problems
c. evidence, opinions and implications.
d. ideas or arguments.
